Project Description

Within the framework of the bilateral cooperation the Federal Republic of Germany committed grant funds in the amount of EUR 13.4 million for the project “Sewage Disposal Kosovo”. Further grant funds for the Project in the amount of EUR 15 million are envisaged for 2020. Furthermore, the EU considers a major co-financing from IPA 2021 funds.

The Objective of the Project is to improve the collection of wastewater as well as the management of storm water. The investments also support Kosovo in its efforts to comply with the EU Environmental Legislation.

The Objective of the Consulting Services is to prepare the Project and to provide a Master Plan for the Service Region of RWCP.

Investment measures for sewage and rainwater collection for the cities of Pristina, Fushë Kosovë and Obiliq as well as possibly for additional agglomerations shall be identified and prepared effectively and efficiently. Priority measures shall be defined allowing the initiation of the permitting processes in Kosovo.

Environmental and Social (ES) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards according to Kosovar legislation, EU regulations and World Bank social standards shall be considered in the preparation and implementation of the Program.

Long-term planning horizon shall be the year 2040 (Masterplan, long-term investment measures) with an intermediate planning horizon of 2030 (Feasibility Study, short and mid-term measures).

The Project area of the Master Plan covers the water service area of RWCP, while the Project area of the Feasibility Study concerns the Cities of Pristina, Fushë Kosovë, Obiliq and additional agglomerations identified during the study.
