Kavaja is a municipality centrally located in the Western Lowlands region of Albania. It borders Durrës to the north 17 km, Tirana to the east 27 km and Rrogozhinë to the south 15 km. Based on the 2011 Census, the municipality had a population of 40,094 inhabitants, although the Civil Registry inferred the total number of inhabitants to be 79,556. The aim of this project is the urban wastewater disposal to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Qerret, Kavaja and their discharge in a clean reception environment referring to the standards of the Law no. 111/2012 “On integrated water resources management”.
The measures of this project shall contribute to the sustainable development of the city by improving the living conditions of the population and reducing health risk of inhabitants and visitors on a medium and long-term perspective.
The purpose of this service is to draw up a Design Study for the construction / reconstruction of the Sewerage network and all its integral components.
Expected results:
- Complete coverage with sewerage network for the disposal of urban wastewater for the entire territory of the city of Kavaja.
- Reconstruction and replacement of the sewerage network in a depreciated condition, including the inspection valve chambers.
- the 100% connection of the population living in the sewerage area (Direct Result) and standards are the Indicators for measuring the success of the program.
- Measures include rehabilitation and construction of wastewater systems, the transmision to the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant in Qerret, and discharge of the treated wastewater according to the Albanian legislation in force for urban wastewater disposal.
